Extreme Buff Camp

On Saturday morning, I did something kind of crazy.
I enrolled in Extreme fitness boot camp.
That means that starting tomorrow morning, and every morning, five days a week for the next six weeks, I will wake up at 4:45 am (four! forty! five!) to get ready to be tortured with various outdoor exercises for an entire hour.
Drastic, but absolutely necessary.
I’ve gained eleven pounds in the past few months. Then I’ve lost those eleven pounds and then I’ve gained them back again. It’s frustrating, it’s unhealthy. Truth? I can’t blame my thyroid disease. I can’t blame the fact that I am insulin resistant. (Because all of my test results are great!) I can only blame the fact that I’ve been too lazy/exhausted to work out consistently. Also? Chick-Fil-A chocolate milkshakes, which are basically the best thing to happen to my mouth since bean dip.
I need to be challenged (bored to death of the gym) I need to be pushed out of my fitness comfort zone. Fitness boot camp seemed like the perfect thing to get me out of this funk. I can’t lie– I’m terrified (because I am a Fitness Wimp) but I’m up for the challenge. I want to see how far I can push my body, I want to see what I am capable of outside of Zumba and running on the treadmill.
And I can’t lie, I want to get buff.
For the next six weeks, I plan to write about my experience. I hope to be able to share new exercises that I learn and hopefully some healthy recipes (I say hopefully because I am SO BAD at cooking, but I will try!) Once the six weeks is completed, I will share before and after photos/measurements.
Wish me luck. I’m gonna need it (so that I don’t end up in urgent care. Because I ALWAYS end up in urgent care.)

Good luck! I need a new kick in the pants too. I’ve been stuck for two months, in spite of hot yoga a few times a week. I’m trying to decide what to do next. Cannot deal with gym boredom anymore. (Also, I love beer.)
    I hope you love this!

Good Luck! I’m sure you’ll do great. I mean, if you can zumba, you can pull off bootcamp- zumba is hard. I’ve always wanted to join the bootcamp here in town, but always chicken out.

If you like your boot camp, I’d like to recommend a Crossfit gym. I joined about a year ago and am LOVING it. I feel strong and healthy and every day is something new and exciting (and the slightest wee bit terrifying).

I started my boot camp in September and haven’t stopped. Donnie and I tapped into savings so I could do a whole year because it was THAT IMPORTANT to me. I had never found a exercise program I looked forward too before, one I only miss in extreme situations. And now I’ve met women who encourage and inspire me. It has basically changed my life. Seriously. So, I’m rooting for it to do the same to you. I love it, I really do. The mornings don’t even phase me and I really wish the class met every day.
I really hope you are as happy with yours as I have been with mine. You can do it!

Good luck, Y! You’re braver than me – I would have been too scared to even sign up. It’s always so rewarding to push yourself harder and further than you ever thought you could. Looking forward to reading about your experience!

That is awesome!! That’s exactly the kind of thing I need to enroll in. Good luck and I know you’ll do great!!

It’s been awhile since a bean dip mention. 🙂
Good luck! I’m sure you’ll kick some serious booty out there! Also, if you figure out the secret to waking up at o’dark thirty, then please share it with us. I’ve been trying to get into the morning workout routine for years. I’ll succeed one day, and fail the other 6.

HOORAY! I’m so glad youre doing it! I want to hear all about it! I spent the last weekend in 30+ hrs of training (Friday-Sat-Sun) so that I can certify to teach combat. I passed! Their only fault? I need to work on my core?!?!? Seriously, I have 3 kid and can kick your ass and you want a tighter tummy! Look out! Mama’s pissed and gonna show those SOB’s!!

One of my friends does this type of extreme fitness training–I call it her “booty camp”–and if she can do it, you can do it. You will do great, actually, and you’ll love the results. And after you finish, you can treat yourself to a Chick-Fil-A peach milkshake because they are even better than the chocolate if such a thing can be believed.

I’ve never commented before but I must comment on this post! I completed my first boot camp workout this morning and I wanted to DIE…I wanted to walk to my car after the first ten minutes and just leave. But I’m commited! I am going to complete and now that I know you are doing it, I won’t feel so alone 🙂

Good luck, Y! You are one brave chica. I don’t think I could commit to 5x/week that early in the morning. Can’t wait for the updates.

Looking forward to reading along. As soon as my back is healed, I’m going to need some new challenges of my own, so I’m looking to you for inspiration!

You are going to LOVE it. I went last year for several months. I was able to make some MAJOR improvements in my personal fitness in a very short period of time.
The best part? You will be done with your exercise by 6:00 a.m. and won’t have to think about it for a while.
Oh, and be prepared to be super sore for the first couple days, but it will totally be better by next week.
    Have fun, Y!

Wow — I’m impressed! My husband just bought this ab machine thing and I was so discouraged when I couldn’t even do ONE rep. I think my abdominal muscles just curled up and died or something. It’s amazing that I can even sit upright without them, come to think about it… Good luck with boot camp!

I take a boot camp class a couple of days a week and love it! It’s not confusing and the classes I attend have great variety and wonderful trainers. Good luck to you, you’re going to do great!
