stop crying, pa!

lhfampic2.jpg

i was talking with my friend today (yes, i have friends!) about the tv shows we used to love as kids and still love today. one of my favorites was little house on the prairie. i remember i wanted to live in that house with pa. i loved pa. i also wanted dr.baker to be my doctor. i hated nelly, although i was so jealous of her perfect curls. the sad thing about it is this, i have a horrible memory and i can only remember bits and pieces of the episodes. i remember when mary went blind. i remember when they found the bum and took him in, but i can't remember his name, what was his name? half pint got on my nerves, but you couldn't help but love her. but i need your help. i remember this episode where someone got pushed down a hill in a wheelchair, but my friend says that never happened. i distinctly remember seeing that and i remember i was happy she got pushed down the hill. it might have been nelly in the wheelchair, hence me being happy about it. help me out people, didn't that happen in one of the episodes? i know i'm not the only one who loved this show. fess up and tell me.

You're right there was a wheelchair, but Nellie was in it! The episode was when Nellie feel off a horse named Bunny and she pretends she's paralyzed...well Laura realizes she was faking it and pushes Nellie down a hill in to a lake or something and Nellie walks out...

I watche LHOTP waaaaay too much as a kid lol

Posted by: yvonne at November 21, 2002 02:18 PM

Posted by: Dania at November 21, 2002 02:21 PM

of course i watched it -- the star's name is LAURA :)

Posted by: laura at November 21, 2002 02:22 PM

lol laura, but of *course*! and dania, i'm just jealous because i can't remember the episodes, just bits and pieces and the emotions i felt. like i remember feeling so sorry for mr.olson. he was a decent guy married to a bitchy old hag with spoiled ass kids... lol who knows, that memory might not even be accurate! he was a good guy, right? lol

Posted by: yvonne at November 21, 2002 02:26 PM

I *LOVE* that show. I watched it every day on TBS when I was pregnant and cried at every episode. I even listed that as a geeky 100 things about me, lol. Mary's blind! Wahhhhh! Half pint got married! Wahhhhhhh! Ma and Pa are having money problems! Wahhhhhhhh!

That's right about Nellie in the wheelchair. why couldn't Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman come to the prairie and set up practice with Doc Baker?

OMG I just thought of how much I hated Adam! Mary's blind husband got on my nerves! With their blind school and so perfect life! Half pint got on my nerves but she got the better husband!

I cried when Michael Landon died, too. Pa was cute.

Well you know it *is* still on! Can't remember when, but as Trish said, it's on TBS..I have tried to watch it but my kids *gasp* hate it...in fact they hate anything we used to watch as kids..I don't understand, those were the best television years!

Posted by: Dania at November 21, 2002 03:28 PM

I watched a "Where Are They Now" show on VH1 recently where they focussed on child stars of the past and they had the woman who'd played Nellie on it. She said everyone always thinks she's a bitch now cos of the character she played.

I used to love that show, but when I was a kid people used to tell me I looked like Laura whenever I had my hair in plaits. So of course I had to hate it after that.

All I remember about that show was when the kid got hooked on opium. That did wonders to my young mind to see someone doing drugs on TV, instead of out on the street corner.

Posted by: bitterman at November 21, 2002 03:45 PM

I liked House, but then I still watch "The Waltons" reruns on cable.

I just posted in my blog yesterday about Little House! My mornings are based around the show! I hate missing it! I love that show!

I read somewhere that the woman who played Nellie is doing standup comedy here in SoCal. Her name is Allison Arngrim (sp?) and her act is called "Prairie Bitch" or something. I'll have to look up the info and share. I don't remember where i read about it, but it was only last week.

cheers

well looks like i got it partly wrong. she's in NYC doing her standup. Here is some info I was able to find - http://www.hgd.com/alison/

but i got the "prairie bitch" part right at least.

heh

i loved the books, and the show. but i always looked at how they were dressed and thought, isn't that really hot and itchy? it always looked so dusty and hot on the prairie.

About Y
My name is Y, but you can call me "Jesse's girl." I am an Aerobic Dancer and have mastered many moves, but the one I am the most proud of is "The Monkey." I have three kids. ALL FROM THE SAME DAD (Because, did you know someone actually asked me that question?) A 15 year old son, a 11 year old son and a 4 year old daughter who was not planned but who is loved more than words could ever express. I am addicted to Starbucks, reality TV and to getting really good deals through coupons and "club member" savings (Please, respect The Costco Card.) I am extremely competive and if you don't believe me, just ask my husband about the time I sold him out to win a game of Taboo. If you're waiting for the part where I speak of my love for walks on the beach or slow dancing in the rain, you're going to be disappointed because my idea of a good time usually involves things like "burping contests" and "doing The Worm".
