Dude. My baby brother got a MASSIVE BRAIN INJURY from doing the exact same thing... He's all better now... After doctors removed part of his brain, spending 4 days in a coma, 2 months of physical therapy, and a goofy hair cut.

Which is why my child isn't allowed to do ANYTHING.

See...this is why they say it's tougher to raise boys from birth-12, and tougher to raise girls from 13 on.

{sigh}...which means I have 2 more years of sanity...

i dunno looking back on my childhood we all did crazy things that could have gotten us killed but I think on a sub level most kids know where the saftey line is... that said there are always exceptions but i'd say thats a rare ammount.

Bumps, Bruises, Scars its all part of growing up as a kid and gives you some stories to talk about later in life :)

Yvonne, regarding the Welbutrin. My doctor prescribed it to replace my Prozac a few years ago, and it didn't do diddly-squat for me. In fact, a week after stopping Prozac and starting Welbutrin, I had a massive bout of depression that had me considering things I long ago decided never to do. I switched back to my Prozac almost immediately.

The strange (and difficult) thing about the mood-altering medications is that some things work completely differently in two different people. Other people require a combination of one, two, or more different drugs to begin feeling "alive" again. Finding out exactly what works for an individual is more a guessing game than anything else.

If Welbutrin is making you feel that good, consider it a damned good sign, and don't forget to keep taking it. If it seems to make you feel too hyper all the time, try reducing or staggering your dosage to every other day, after discussing it with your doctor.

Stories like this are the reason I'm considering telling my son he's allergic to everything in the world and has to live in a bubble.

My husband says I'm going to make him "soft" but I say that he's going to love me forever and ever best of everyone. He'll love me so much that after he grows up and kills me he won't want to get rid of me so he'll keep my dead body in a freezer or something. Right next to all the dead hookers.

Just wondering - do they have the helmets and pads and stuff? My poor little guy has yet to even experience his tricycle outside because we have not yet found a helmet that fits him properly... (but... think we actually might have today) Good thing the livingroom's big enough ;-)

jodie, YES, they know they are not allowed to ride without a helmet. As far as the pads... they rarely wear those, but they never ride without a helmet!!!

I have a relative on wellbutron...after a month of being on it we saw changes. Changes that we had prayed for and it has now been a year and their family can't believe how their lives are so much better. The outbursts, OCD type of behavior, depression, feelings of hopelessness, paranoia, etc. have gone away. Even my relative can see it in himself that his behavior was inappropriate much of the time where before he took the drug he thought everyone else was to blame for his being pissed all the time. For him it was the right chemical....for someone else? Time will tell. Oh and when he was able to get himself straightened out then he began to feel less stressed which then translated into not eating to make himself feel better...he has lost about 45 lbs in the last year. Like I said it was a good chemical for him but for others....?

Don't live on that boy theory - I have one of each and my daughter is four times the dare devil, risk taker that my son ever was. First parental case of sewing up a head last week with her and my son is 8 and she is 2. Climbed a slide and another chic was trying to move in. Shoving match ensued and Ms. I'm The Woman hit the ground face first!

I've been taking W for about 2 months. Started out with the total energy high but now I'm not sure it is doing much for the depression issue now.

Well, you know my Wellbutrin take -- once I past the first week and I COULD FUCKING SLEEP, I was fine. How's your sleep cycle, Yvonne? Ask for a sleep med if it's messed up. I'm on Paxil as well, but it didn't make me tired. Ever.

** Oh, and as far as the boys and the skateboard thing -- the spouse just laughed when he read your post and said "I was so messed up as a kid -- I broke this, that and the other." I, however, believe all children should not be allowed to move whatsoever. That's just me, however, and Lord knows my kids don't listen to it.

Have I said this here already? I'll say it again just in case:

A friend of a friend has two boys. She decided not to have any more children, and was asked, "Aren't you sad you will never have a girl?" and the woman responded, "No. You know, with two boys, I only have two penises to worry about. With a girl, I'd have thousands."

As a kid our driveway was damn near horizontal, and my favorite game was to tear down on it on my big wheel. Mom and Dad had to stop watching that, until I plowed face first into the trees at the bottom. Ah kids.

Wellbutrin is alot easier on the ol'body (which is why the doc prescribed it to me)

not as strong either as some others, but i like it.

it's also a derivitive of that no-smoking pill they give peeps.

oh -- should add: it apparently doesn't have as much sexual side affects as some anti-depression meds.
