Just Uttered...

"Mom, you know what's weird? When you don't wear makeup, you don't look as pretty as when you do wear it. Like, I mean, you look WAY better with makeup on."

It took everything for me to not plug my ears, stick my tongue out and be all "THAT'S NOT WHAT YOUR AUNTIE SAID!. Instead, I simply asked him this question.

"So, basically, what you're saying is I'm ugly and I need makeup to be pretty?"

Which, I realize now was a horrible thing for a mother to say to her sensitive son who loves her more than anything in the world and how always tells her how beatiful he thinks she is, but I'm psychotic when it comes to these "issues" so I said it and I can't take it back.

"Mom! That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm just saying that the make up makes you look prettier."

"Right, so, I'm ugly without it."

Again, I TOTALLY SHOULDN'T HAVE SAID THAT, because, deep down I know what he was trying to say, but, again, I'M A PSYCHO, so, I said it.

"Mom, that's not what I meant, I just meant, CAN WE PLEASE END THIS CONVERSATON NOW?"

Stumbling upon your site through Macca's blog was the best accident! I can only hope I don't scare you if you can see how hard I stalk your site while I'm in the office. Keep up the good work and thanks for helping me kill my day... even if I could totally get fired for lauging out loud at my desk.

Too funny...

Poor kid- he's learning early on that there are some things that a man should just NEVER say to a woman. lol

don't worry, he has to learn about the mysterious female mind some day!

girl: "does this dress make me look fat?"
boy: "no!"
girl: "so you're saying a normally look fat, and this dress helps hide it well. jerk!"

Don't worry, I look much better with it on too. Try having your SO say that to you!

him: God you look so different with make up on
me: huh?
him: You look hot!
me: Are you saying I look like shit without it?
him: No, that's not what i'm saying, I'm saying...
me: just shut up, shut up now before I kick your ass.
him: shutting up *walks out of the bathroom*

I made a point of not wearing make up the rest of the time I was with him lol

The psycho in all of us tends to come out at times like this.

My itty bitty skinny twiggy wanna-be daughter used to tell me on a regular basis that she wanted to be FAT LIKE ME!!! Eeewww....poor misguided child was just wanting to be like me, which really scared me into saying shit like you did! It's tough to hear when you know they're being honest, but do not mean to be hurtful.

Poor kid! I always tell my "make-up free" friends, I wear make-up for the same reason I wear clothes. I look better with some on.

I am shiny too and I really HATE HATE HATE FOUNDATION. Seriously, you must get BIORE PORE PERFECT moisurizer. It is a 'matt-ifier', it makes your skin look matte. I put that on, then about 30 minutes later I add a bit of tinted moisturizer to even out my skin tone, usually just on my checkbones, nose, forehead. A dusting of powder, eyeliner, mascara, lipgloss and I'm done and have NO MORE SHINYNESS! I hate shiny! Anyway, I only bought the moisturizer through biore instead of buying all 5 products I wanted to get from them, bc I wanted to see if it really did help the shine and IT DID! I also bought clean and clear shine control in a puff to carry in my purse, but it makes my face white and I really have to blend it in. I'll be buying hte mattifying cleanser next through Biore.

Ha! Already learning the mine fields a man must cross in conversation with the wimmens.

I clicked on the link and read the post about what your sister said. The one thing I noticed about the picture isn't that you aren't wearing make-up--it's that you weren't smiling! You have a great smile and are smiling in most of the pictures you post. Who cares about the wrinkles, stretch marks, make-up or no, etc? You seem like such a confident & happy (most of the time) person: that's what makes you look beautiful.

poor buddy.....now he needs even MORE councelling:)

Posted by: joy madison at September 15, 2005 08:13 PM

Well, its good that you stopped the conversation that time. But its not an issue to think seriously. All I can say that he just wanted to see you in the most beautiful look.

About Y
My name is Y, but you can call me "Jesse's girl." I am an Aerobic Dancer and have mastered many moves, but the one I am the most proud of is "The Monkey." I have three kids. ALL FROM THE SAME DAD (Because, did you know someone actually asked me that question?) A 15 year old son, a 11 year old son and a 4 year old daughter who was not planned but who is loved more than words could ever express. I am addicted to Starbucks, reality TV and to getting really good deals through coupons and "club member" savings (Please, respect The Costco Card.) I am extremely competive and if you don't believe me, just ask my husband about the time I sold him out to win a game of Taboo. If you're waiting for the part where I speak of my love for walks on the beach or slow dancing in the rain, you're going to be disappointed because my idea of a good time usually involves things like "burping contests" and "doing The Worm".
