"I would be the most flamboyant gay you have ever seen. I would be leading that parade covered in feathers..."

Did you watch the season premiere of The Office last night?

I just finished watching it for the 3rd time and it was as just as funny as the first time. What's even better than the actual premier of the show for me? Is that MY MOM called me to tell me that she that it was funny. Infact, she laughed so hard that she cried. Especially at the part where Michael and Oscar kissed. What?! WHAT?!? That truly shocked me, because, you know... I bet Jesus didn't think it was funny.

"Where was dad wehn you were watching it?" I asked.

"He was at bible study."

"Oh, because I was going to say, he would have thrown that TV out the window and REBUKED YOU."

It's not just "gay" kissing on TV that my dad doesn't approve of. People, we weren't allowed to watch HAPPY DAYS. Because, you know, that man slut Arthur Fonzerelli was always getting it on with some skank and PASTOR WAS NOT HAVING THAT FILTH IN HIS HOUSE.

Anyway, it makes me all kinds of happy to know that my mom watched it and that she actually enjoyed it and didn't call to tell me that she was boycotting The Office and all of it's Gayness.

Gay.Good.

That show may very well be the funniest show in history of sitcoms and yet, I sit here crying (no! WEEPING. LITERALLY WEEPING.) after watching this little collection of clips from the show.

God, I HATE IT when that happens. "That" being "when I forget that a show isn't real and actually develop feelings and emotions about made up characters on a TV show."

"We're all Homos....sapiens."

Michael is so obliviously funny that it hurts. HURTS! I had to skim the show last night as I frantically cleaned house since my in-laws are arriving today...I can't wait to sit down and soak it all in. Love it.

While I'm sure it was hilarious, you SO need to see the original English version - pure genius, I swear!

And the Christmas Special that finished the whole thing made me cry! Amazing television viewing.

okay...um...yeah...thanks for that.
i just completely embarrassed myself at work. i lost it when they were eating the crackers. lost it. laughed out loud.

god. i love that show.

I lost it at "13 inches."

I really do need to watch the british version, however, I can't imagine it being funnier than this version.

I totally have to get into this show, especially with the Y recommendation. My inner gay guy, Ramon (who is a concierge at the San Francisco Four Seasons. He cand get you into any show, any restaurant, anything), would love it swooningly.

Never seen the show, as I already have too many I'm addicted to.

I can totally relate to the "rebuke" thing. I grew up in a similar environment. I say, "they're here...they're queer...get used to it!"

I laughed and cried during this whole episode! My husband had to keep pausing the Tivo so I could calm down. My heart aches for Pam and Jim and I think I peed myself when Michael kissed Oscar. It is the finest show on televison!

I may have wet my pants a little from the laughing. LOVE "The Office"...now if "Scrubs" would return!

So, the part where dwight opens up the box to find the "gaydar" Jim sent him...and then him using it on Oscar and then himself and find out he's gay?? Priceless.

I didn't know clips are alreayd up on You Tube! You made my day (I dont have TiVo/faux whatever)

Aw, are you a PK? I knew we were kindred spirits. :)

Remember when we were all, "they're remaking the OFFICE? for AMERICANS??? Talk about suckage. I give it three episodes."

I stand corrected. I'm glad they allowed the cast to create their own characters and find their own paths. That show is the only sitcom worth watching anymore besides Earl.

OMG I love that show.

"Who put my calculator in jello?"

Posted by: chris at September 22, 2006 04:37 PM

OH!!! I'm so glad you posted the Pam and Jim clips! I love them together. Really I do......okay, okay, I love Jim and want him for myself. :)

Posted by: Lacy at September 22, 2006 10:06 PM

Listen. Only folks who can't dance aerobicly dismiss the British version... Just sayin'. (Seriously though, it's as funny as the US one).

And also, I got this way about Six Feet Under. I was pretty sure that once Nate met me, he'd totally want me.

Posted by: culotte at September 23, 2006 07:54 AM

OMG!! How did I forget this was on? I'm going to have to turn in my remote, I'm obviously not worthy.

I got so mad when stupid local tornadoes made me miss the last 10 mins of The Office. It's my fav show and my husband and I spent the two hours before the premiere watching season 1 on dvd. So frustrating!

And I totally laughed out loud when you said "rebuked you". I can't tell you how many times my mother rebukes things I say and do.

Posted by: Carrisa at September 23, 2006 05:24 PM

oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh thank you for that link. I love the Office--both versions--but Jim-Pam is so SWEEEET (even though if she married Roy I would be RIGHT THERE for Jim. Just saying). I loved the premiere, too! So squirmy, so awful, so perfect! I had zero sympathy for Michael at the end, so it was neat that Oscar had compassion for him. But GROSS for him to have to kiss Michael! (Oh, dear--I think I'm doing that 'the characters are real! and they are my FRIENDS! thing, too.)

Anyway, yes, yes, yes. I read your blog (it's great! you're so funny!) all the time but never had the nerve to comment before but I guess obsession calls it out.

I can't get into that show. When I have seen it, it's been funny, though. I don't know why....well, I kind of do, but that's a rant all on its own.

Posted by: Nina at September 24, 2006 03:15 PM

I love the Office! Oscar and Michael had the most awkward kiss ever.

Posted by: Lulu at September 24, 2006 07:21 PM

The 1st season, I didn't get it because I figured I don't work in an office, how would it be funny? But now I see it's more about the characters and man, the show is freaking hilarious. Except for the Jim and Pam thing, that makes me want to cry too.

Posted by: Katie at September 25, 2006 07:11 AM

Whaddya mean, it's not real????

Posted by: wordnerd at September 25, 2006 08:44 AM

"And that is why, kids, sometimes it pays to be gay!" The Office is by far the best show on TV EVAH!!

Posted by: Lizzie P at September 25, 2006 11:32 AM

Did you know that a bunch of the actors have myspaces? Did you know that Jenna Fisher (Pam) blogs regularly while they're shooting? She said that the kiss was completely improvised, that Steve did it all there right on the spot - that their reactions were all genuine. Cool, eh? It is definitely the best show on TV.

About Y
My name is Y, but you can call me "Jesse's girl." I am an Aerobic Dancer and have mastered many moves, but the one I am the most proud of is "The Monkey." I have three kids. ALL FROM THE SAME DAD (Because, did you know someone actually asked me that question?) A 15 year old son, a 11 year old son and a 4 year old daughter who was not planned but who is loved more than words could ever express. I am addicted to Starbucks, reality TV and to getting really good deals through coupons and "club member" savings (Please, respect The Costco Card.) I am extremely competive and if you don't believe me, just ask my husband about the time I sold him out to win a game of Taboo. If you're waiting for the part where I speak of my love for walks on the beach or slow dancing in the rain, you're going to be disappointed because my idea of a good time usually involves things like "burping contests" and "doing The Worm".
