I shouldn't waste my time on this, BUT....

Blogging is becoming less fun for me as each day passes.

I see ugliness in people that disgusts me. Over a BLOG.

I read of people neglecting their families over their blog. I read of people tearing other human beings to shreds over their blog. I read of people wanting fame and fortune and hits and presents.

For the most part, I try to ignore those people who have lost their grip on reality in the name of fame on the internet, and I continue writing about my pathetic little life, because I enjoy it. I enjoy sitting down while Gabby is taking a nap and the boys are at school and writing about the kids. Or about my weight. Or about my vagina. Or about farts. And I enjoy that a few people will stop by and comment. But it certainly isn't the most important thing in my life.

I realise everyone does it for different reasons, and I don't care about what other people's reasons are, really. I do care about the fact people are acting like assholes and bullies, though. It makes me not want to be a part of it. I have enough aggravation in my life, I don't need to spend time online reading grown men acting like dicks because they think they're a fucking celebrity because they have a blog, and lots of women read it and tell them how great they are. I don't feel like wasting time reading women calling other women cunts because of a meaningless blog award.

I have children, a husband, a home, wonderful friends, dogs... THEY are what matter. When my kids grow up, I certainly don't think they're going to care how many hits my fucking BLOG got. They'll care about the time we spent at night playing yahtzee or watching movies together, or going to get ice cream.

I wonder how many lives have been ruined over blogs. I wonder how many children have been neglected because the parent was too busy checking on their stats. I wonder how many relationships were ruined because one of the partners spent too much time wrapped up in the blog world. I don't know what it is about a fucking website that makes people lose their damn minds.

I suppose I'm writing this because I noticed that with each passing day, I'm caring less and less about "blogging". I'm starting to realise how insignificant it really is in the grand scheme of this thing called LIFE. I know it's easy to get caught up in it all, I know it's easy to care about how many people read, how many comments you get, but seriously, in the end, it doesn't really matter.

well said! I agree. Some people take blogging way too serious.

And the blog award drama is pretty pathetic.

That shit is seriously happening? I guess I've just stayed in my own little blog world because I get enough out of what I read now. What a crock! But for me to be surprised in human behavior would be naive.

Amen!

Yeah some people take this stuff way too seriously. There's a whole world out there waiting to be enjoyed.

In every aspect of life, there are always people who spoil things for everyone. Blogs are no different. I do not waste my time on political blogs, or advertisements, or anything really, other than the writings of nice people, about their lives, and their children, and their homes. The family is the most important thing in society. Many people who realize that, like to share about it for others. I've gotten a lot of excellent advice about life from reading the blogs of nice people. I hope my own blog has not brought anyone down in any way; I try to be upbeat even when I poke fun at something, or complain. Anyway, I agree with you, and I bet those people are just as awful in person as they are in writing. And, I bet you are just as nice in person as you seem to be in YOUR writing.

I agree! Blogging should really be a HOBBY (I mean, unless it's your job). It shouldn't rule your life. Some people ( lonely) turn it into too much, and that is just sad - especially if they turn ugly and hateful.

After reading this, I am glad this is the only blog I read. You keep it real, and that's what makes it worth reading...

i blog to enjoy a passion of mine: writing. i have met some wonderful people through it. that's why i do it. if it ceases to be fun, or interferes with my family, out it goes.

now, why haven't you sent me the links so i can see what you're talking about? *grin* :P

Oh wait..........never mind. :-)

Sometimes blogs help people.. I met my wife because of mine...

Hear hear :)

My blog is a place for my verbal diarrhea, no more, no less. :)

I think people like you Y, because you write about everyday things in a very honest way :) (atleast, that's why I read you)

I know, Chuck. I'm not saying blogs are BAD, nor am I saying that all people who blog should do it for the same reasons I do. I just get sick when I read some of the stuff out there right now. That's all.

great post! The attacks over awards given by "who in the hell are they?" are just completely outrageous. I say to those people, 'get over thyself and get thee a life"!

Posted by: kimberly at January 14, 2005 3:39 PM

It's a good thing I don't do it for the hits or awards. I get maybe 5 hits a day, and probably 3 of those are me checking to see about updates on my blogroll. And I'm award free! heh

Well-said. Definitely. I know of the drama of which you speak and I am as dumbfounded by it as you are. It just puts a great big WTF above my head whenever I read about it. Silliness.

I have only discovered blogs in the past 3-4 months. I really enjoy reading yours Y, you're honest, funny, and don't sugar coat PMS-depression-weight-farts and how great (or annoying)children and husbands are. I keep up with 3 other blogs of women who also remind me that I'm not the only one with problems. Too bad the shitheads don't get a life or stay in their own blog universe.

Posted by: carolyn at January 14, 2005 6:33 PM

as a part of this drama, let me tell you, apparently you can invite this shit on your head by blogging you don't like it.

apparently, when you decide not to play, people share emails and other people get in a twist. And then of course, me being me, I just gotta flap my gums.

in the middle of it all I had to have a weird fight with my mom...I'm under a bad star I think.

However, some people need to learn to just let it drop when it's been dropped. For me, if people just move along, I'll shut up and that's it. But when they keep going and going like little blogging energizer bunnies, my temper gets tweaked...and I have a bad one.

You still owe me a call btw.

"I feel zero responsibilty for THIS"

GAG.

Posted by: y at January 14, 2005 9:18 PM

Can I just tell you how happy it makes me that I have no fucking idea what you're talking about? ;-)

About Y
My name is Y, but you can call me "Jesse's girl." I am an Aerobic Dancer and have mastered many moves, but the one I am the most proud of is "The Monkey." I have three kids. ALL FROM THE SAME DAD (Because, did you know someone actually asked me that question?) A 15 year old son, a 11 year old son and a 4 year old daughter who was not planned but who is loved more than words could ever express. I am addicted to Starbucks, reality TV and to getting really good deals through coupons and "club member" savings (Please, respect The Costco Card.) I am extremely competive and if you don't believe me, just ask my husband about the time I sold him out to win a game of Taboo. If you're waiting for the part where I speak of my love for walks on the beach or slow dancing in the rain, you're going to be disappointed because my idea of a good time usually involves things like "burping contests" and "doing The Worm".
