Love your writing - identify with your struggles - I had a surprise baby 21 years ago! I also have thyroid problems "are you sure you're not depressed?" is what I heard all the time until my heartrate went crazy fast & I had a true medical workup. I had breast cancer 6 years ago & am doing fine now, but take meds that SLOW my metabolism. I go to WW and lose about 1 pound per month & long to mercilessly beat those rapid losers. Instead I smile & go home to my husband who is crazy in love with his fat old wife.

Delurking to say that I read you often and very much enjoy your blog. I'm glad that your thyroid problem has been correctly diagnosed and I hope you will soon be on your way to a happier, healthier you!

Delurking also. A SAH mom with a 2year old daughter who has you bookmarked and clicks on your blog multiple times a day. My weight has been creeping up to 200 (never thought I'd let myself get there and breastfeeding for 18 months did not help me loose weight - the liars!) and your posts about wanting your daughter to have both a healthy relationship with food and a healthy body image really resonate with me. I also look back to all the years when I was a healthy weight and truly thought I was fat - and just cringe that I have spent 25 years thinking about this.
