Not a Photographer

I have posted most of my photos from NYC on flickr, I have a few more to post, but not many more. I am really disappointed with the pictures that I took. I was too busy socializing (BEER PONG!!) and lost sight of my goal to dedicate at least one day to photograph the city.

I did get a few shots that I love, but my absolute favorite is one that I didn't take.

Quite possibly my favorite person in the world (or at least on the internet)

Meeting Rich was most definitely the highlight of my trip, he's seriously THAT awesome.

Here are a few shots that I took, sadly, these are as good as they get.

On the streets of NYC

Spring in The City

Panning Taxis.

(gasp) You. met. RICH!?!?!?!?!

I HAAAAAAATE YOU!

And if you met Winston, I'll HAAAAAATE you even MORE! Lucky!

Posted by: Broad at April 10, 2008 9:28 PM

These three shots are fabulous street scenes. Good job!

I think your photos are great!

I need to go to New York so badly. I am completely envious that you got to go :)

Posted by: Angella at April 11, 2008 3:34 AM

BTW - you look great! Love your top.

Posted by: Chris H. at April 11, 2008 4:15 AM

I love the newstand photo...oh! and the fire-escape one too...OooH! I love the taxi one, that ones my FAV!

You're a kick ass photographer!

I have to admit I don't know who Rich is. But I'm going over to his blog RIGHT NOW.

Posted by: CC at April 11, 2008 4:59 AM

LOVE the city scene photos Y!

Posted by: Karla at April 11, 2008 5:02 AM

I love photos of fire escapes. I took some in Chicago last July and they are some of my favourite shots I got the whole time I was there

Posted by: Assertagirl at April 11, 2008 5:11 AM

you little liar! i tell people i'm not a photographer either allllll the time :)

Posted by: kris at April 11, 2008 5:16 AM

Your photos are amazing!

I love the blue and red in the "spring in NYC" picture!

Posted by: Miss Britt at April 11, 2008 6:41 AM

I think those are pretty damn good. If you printed off the taxi one as a postcard and mailed it all over, I don't think anyone could tell you took it instead of buying it, which to me is the hallmark of a great city picture.

And you look great and your shirt is waaaaay cute.

Posted by: FishyGirl at April 11, 2008 6:52 AM

Y, those pictures are fantastic!

Congratulations on meeting Rich. I feel like you just won the lottery and I should pretend to be a long lost relative and see what I can mooch off of you. (Did you pick up his used napkin? I'd like that.)

Posted by: Sassy Pants at April 11, 2008 7:22 AM

Your photos are great! So glad you had a wonderful time in NYC.

Posted by: Teresa at April 11, 2008 8:34 AM

Y, you look so good in your shirt! The colors look very good on you!

Posted by: Lor at April 11, 2008 8:53 AM

Oh I think you got some great shots! It looks like you had a blast!

Posted by: sugarplumsmom at April 11, 2008 10:34 AM

Holy crap. Holy, holy CRAP.

I'm so jealous, I don't know if I can recover from this today. How cute is he? And funny? And just FUN in general? What did you guys talk about? Spill it, sista.

Posted by: Faith at April 11, 2008 10:47 AM

The photos you took are indeed fabulous. However, the best is certainly the one you didn't take. Because you look so BEAUTIFUL!! I want you to get this pic out whenever the hash is making you feel gross. That is an order missy.

Posted by: Erin at April 11, 2008 10:55 AM

Nice shots of the city you took. We gonna get to see you on Cash Cab with Ben Bailey?

Posted by: Brian at April 11, 2008 11:29 AM

Y, Those pictures are awesome. I love the taxis photo where the background is blurred and full of lights and the cab is so in focus. Aside from the two others you put up on your site, I also really love the photo of the pretzel vendor on flickr. There's something mystical about it - the face in the box with the hazy heat... Really neat stuff!

And you look fantastic! It looks like you were having a great time.

Posted by: Jenine at April 11, 2008 12:46 PM

You look fabulous! It's so good to see a picture of you looking Happy! And I love your photos. You've got some real talent there. You should think about entering some photo contests and submitting to magazines. I think you really have what it takes.

Posted by: DogsDontPurr at April 11, 2008 12:49 PM

I am so jealous! Rich is totally my internet crush.

Just don't tell my boyfriend. Or his.

Congrats on meeting him though! Good things happen to good people ;)

It's not quantity, but quality, and you nailed it. These are some fab pictures, Y. I'm glad you had such a good trip. Ditto to others who say you look great here. I'm also digging the shirt.

Posted by: lani at April 11, 2008 3:13 PM

Look at you, pretty lady.

Posted by: Surcie at April 11, 2008 5:15 PM

I freakin love those pictures!!

Posted by: Kimberly at April 11, 2008 7:53 PM

That photo of the taxicabs is insanely professional. Well done!

Posted by: Suzy Q at April 11, 2008 9:49 PM

(((((Y)))))) I had to delurk to say two things
A. You look so beautiful and happy in your new clothes. Buy lots more new clothes because you look so great.
B. You look beautiful... because I didn't say it enough in A ha ha

You got some great shots of NYC. Living so close to the City, you inevitably become immune to it. It's nice to see it through the eye of someone who hasn't become blind to the hustle and bustle.

Posted by: diz at April 12, 2008 8:13 AM

I think the pictures are awesome! Give yourself some credit, Y.

Posted by: Kelly at April 12, 2008 9:08 AM

I think I just fell in love with NYC again through your pics. When we get married, want to shoot our wedding? Oh wait, but then who would do Jesse's Girl drunken into the mike between courses?

Posted by: Mom101 at April 12, 2008 6:42 PM

I want (no NEED) to hear more about what you did in NY! I am so jealous!

Posted by: CP at April 12, 2008 8:45 PM

You look truly at ease...LOVE the city scene pictures.

Posted by: jakki at April 13, 2008 5:40 AM

I didn't want to comment this in your Flickr stream but I really do love the shot (and processing) that you took of me. But I suppose it was easy since I'm just so damn hot.

Now, why is it not July yet? Explain this to me.

Posted by: Heather B. at April 14, 2008 7:48 AM

The pictures are great and you look fantastic in that top, ditch your tracksuits woman!

Posted by: Sher at April 14, 2008 12:36 PM

I LOVE the brick building with the flowering tree! That would look so cool blown up in a sleek frame in my living room!

Posted by: Lottifish at April 14, 2008 3:06 PM

Great pictures...who the hell is Rich?

Posted by: mauniejames3 at April 15, 2008 6:58 AM

The jealousy! It BURNS!

Glad NYC was nice to you!

Posted by: Mr Lady at April 15, 2008 9:46 AM

Honestly, that picture of the flowers against that red building is amazing. What kind of camera do you use? I like to take pictures too but don't want to waste money on a camera that I don't like. My in laws bought one for like 500.00 ( a deal ) and HATE it. Its not an SLR, but does take pretty ok pics. But I want SLR because of the move factor on my kiddos...... anyway, I just wanted to say your pictures are amazing.

Posted by: Angelena at April 16, 2008 11:10 AM

Love the street scenes! They really capture the mood of the city.

About Y
My name is Y, but you can call me "Jesse's girl." I am an Aerobic Dancer and have mastered many moves, but the one I am the most proud of is "The Monkey." I have three kids. ALL FROM THE SAME DAD (Because, did you know someone actually asked me that question?) A 15 year old son, a 11 year old son and a 4 year old daughter who was not planned but who is loved more than words could ever express. I am addicted to Starbucks, reality TV and to getting really good deals through coupons and "club member" savings (Please, respect The Costco Card.) I am extremely competive and if you don't believe me, just ask my husband about the time I sold him out to win a game of Taboo. If you're waiting for the part where I speak of my love for walks on the beach or slow dancing in the rain, you're going to be disappointed because my idea of a good time usually involves things like "burping contests" and "doing The Worm".
