We'll Call This One "Sick of Swimming. Sick of Swimming"

G-Unit puts her spin on a Disney classic. Good luck in trying to figure out which one. Ha!

I know what song it is....but only because my SON watches it over and over again. Go figure. :p

She's a cutie, and I think she sings beautifully. :)

Posted by: Jessica at November 3, 2008 2:13 PM

That was the CUTEST thing I have ever seen!!! That girl there has passion!

She is so amazingly beautiful!

Posted by: Diana at November 3, 2008 2:35 PM

Thanks, Jessica.

She's so much fun-- and so much Dramatic. ;-)

Posted by: Y at November 3, 2008 2:35 PM

DUH! That's a (slightly modified) classic!

She's awesome.

Posted by: Kyla at November 3, 2008 2:43 PM

My lord she is dramatic. I LOVE IT! And hello, Little Mermaid. Man, I love the Disney classics remixed.

Posted by: Step at November 3, 2008 2:46 PM

Oh My Gosh! HYSTERICAL!!!!
SO CUTE!

Posted by: Diane at November 3, 2008 2:51 PM

I just adore the vibrato - you're gonna have an opera singer :)

Beautiful.

Posted by: erin at November 3, 2008 2:53 PM

OMG/.... LMFAO! she is hilarious!!!!!!!! i love her!

Posted by: jennster at November 3, 2008 3:06 PM

LMAO. So cute!

Posted by: Headless Mom at November 3, 2008 3:13 PM

Instant classic.
She also has a really lovely voice!

Posted by: rose at November 3, 2008 3:14 PM

That was about the cutest thing EVER. And you can totally tell what song it is. What a ham.

Posted by: Jamie at November 3, 2008 3:38 PM

I am blown away by the CONFIDENCE she has about her lyrics. She's a natural performer. :}

Posted by: Backpacking Dad at November 3, 2008 3:42 PM

oh. my. gosh is she so stinkin' cute! I want to bite her cheeks! (in the most positive, non-creepy way possible).

we saw Little Mermaid on b'way this summer, and the soundtrack? SO. MUCH. LONGER. than the movie. let me know if you want a copy, I'll burn it for you. but then your daughter would never stop listening to it (like mine) and you'd hate me forever. (trust me, I know--it's already happened with two other friends).

SO CUTE. I especially love the modified SICK OF SWIMMING. SICK OF SWIMMING part.

Posted by: Carolyn at November 3, 2008 3:43 PM

she's so dramatic, she couldn't even stand to sing the whole song...she got bored and had to skip right to the high drama part!

p.s.
she's good, but she's got nothing on your westin st. francis bathroom performance. anyone who was there will know EXACTLY which song she's singing.

Posted by: supertiff at November 3, 2008 3:48 PM

Very good little singer you have there... I love the remix... and it's probably more true than the original! LOL! Plus, is she in the bathroom?! That adds a touch to her little mermaid!

Posted by: Jess at November 3, 2008 4:00 PM

that was so great! my son used to watch that monie twice a day every day until i finally convincd him to watch the lion king... then if was "cant wait to be king? constantly... he doesnt get the idea of watching different movies. when he's hooked, he's hooked, good or bad. it's so much fun though when they are so interested in something like that!

Posted by: jessica at November 3, 2008 4:02 PM

I have a funny story to tell you.

There's a country in central Africa called Gabon. I had to memorize its capital, Libreville, along with a bunch of others for a test I had today. I remembered it because Gabon reminded me of G-Unit's name, and how free (the French word for "free" is "libre") and I remembered it for the test. I thought you might like to know that your family inspires me. :)

Take care!

Posted by: Sarah at November 3, 2008 4:27 PM

OMG I just died from cute. I can't stop smiling after watching that!

Posted by: Jamie at November 3, 2008 4:41 PM

Posted by: Julie at November 3, 2008 5:08 PM

God, what a wonderful voice she has -- I love how she's mastered the soft and loud points of that song. Beautiful!

Posted by: MA at November 3, 2008 5:26 PM

She's just so damn cute.

Posted by: Rhi at November 3, 2008 5:28 PM

Posted by: lani at November 3, 2008 6:19 PM

Aria from little Ariel............wish I could be part of that world too. So great to watch.....

Posted by: jojo at November 3, 2008 6:43 PM

Ummm, seriously, I think that is the beginning of a very talented performer. You need to sign her up for voice and dram lessons ASAP. She is so cute too. And you live in CA. You should check into things. She might actually be able to do something.

Posted by: AA at November 3, 2008 7:15 PM

Oh.my.gosh. I'm in love with her. How cute is that??? Who can listen to what she's saying when I can't even get past those HUGE eyes??!!

Posted by: Chris at November 3, 2008 7:23 PM

That made me laugh so hard. She is seriously cute. I can't believe how she sings. And she is singing my favorite song from my favorite disney movie.

Posted by: Julie at November 3, 2008 7:54 PM

OMG, she is really good! I love how she change the volume of her voice just like Ariel! It's great!

Posted by: Amy at November 3, 2008 8:02 PM

Posted by: alayna at November 3, 2008 8:53 PM

Y, I just absolutely lover her singing! LOL It puts this huge smile on my face every time I see her singing videos. She is so dramatic, she creates her own lyrics, but I know what song that is. hahaha
So lucky, you have the most adorable little girl ever.

Posted by: Kat at November 3, 2008 9:37 PM

Get that girl an agent. Adorable.

Posted by: Maria at November 4, 2008 1:04 AM

Posted by: Colleen at November 4, 2008 10:35 AM

Part of your world from the Little Mermaid! What do I win? What do I win?

Posted by: *pixie* at November 4, 2008 12:36 PM

How can you even stand the cuteness??? I got it- part of your world. It was the "thingamabobs, I got twenty" part that gave it away :)
She is too stinkin cute!

Posted by: Amy at November 4, 2008 12:54 PM

This was the cutest thing EVER!!! She is adorable. Reminds me of me at that age. The Little Mermaid was my favorite movie, too.

Posted by: Anais at November 4, 2008 12:57 PM

Oh my gosh, cutest thing ever.

I KNOW WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE
I KNOW WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE

Love the G-Unit. You've got yourself a performer, there!

Posted by: alyndabear at November 4, 2008 2:00 PM

oh my god, i so needed to see that! she made me happy-cry! :) thanks for sharing your "joy unexpected" with us.

Posted by: Jen at November 4, 2008 4:10 PM

I know that song word for word! Go Gaby!

Posted by: christina at November 4, 2008 5:56 PM

i know that song! i may have sung it at a party one time. karaoke style. without the sanction karaoke. lol.

and i love how she's quiet and then BELTS OUT THE WORDS suddenly for the dramatic emphasis. she's a born performer!

Posted by: talda at November 4, 2008 9:58 PM

She is incredible! What a voice and so fabulously dramatic darling! Every time I see G, I am knocked out by how beautiful she is and also that I think she is a female version of my Eli...watch this and tell me if you think they would be a great act together, she could sing, he would dance...the possibilities are endless!

Posted by: Helen at November 4, 2008 11:42 PM

Clearly little mermaid! I think Gabby is ready for Broadway!

Posted by: Kelly at November 5, 2008 12:38 AM

Oh my goodness. She is the most adorable thing ever. You could eat those cheeks. I love her "vibrato". Precious. Seriously.

Posted by: DeborahB at November 5, 2008 7:06 AM

I might not have gotten it right away if my daughter and I hadn't read The Little Mermaid in a book of fairy tales last night. What an operatic approach to it - dynamics, vibrato, the whole works. And the serious expression too. Wonderful! Thanks for sharing :-)

Posted by: Joy at November 5, 2008 7:50 AM

The eyes!! Those cheeks!! THE VIBRATO!!!!!!! She's freakin' awesome.

Posted by: The Over-Thinker at November 5, 2008 4:44 PM

She makes a fantastic Ariel, indeed she does.

Posted by: Courtney at November 5, 2008 6:22 PM

I can't wait until she's a famous actress or singer one day and Entertainment Tonight replays this on television.

(And also, I would recommend not watching this at work, because the volume changes are dramatic(!) and perhaps people think you're a little bit crazy. Which is not all bad.)

A classic indeed.

Posted by: Overflowing Brain (Katie) at November 5, 2008 9:08 PM

That just might be a $10,000 winner on AFV!

Posted by: Amy at November 5, 2008 10:55 PM

You need to get this girl an agent.

Posted by: Christine at November 6, 2008 9:01 AM

Wow! The passion! The vibrato! The exclamation points!

My 3 year old thought she did a beautiful job and sang along... and now wants to watch The Little fricken Mermaid. Dammit.

Best version evah!

Posted by: Michele at November 6, 2008 9:57 AM

ohmigod. could she BE any more awesome?

:)

Posted by: ali at November 6, 2008 11:30 AM

Posted by: Cherei at November 6, 2008 2:40 PM

AWESOME!

Posted by: Tracy at November 6, 2008 4:38 PM

I am always reading, but this is my first comment.... That was one of the most adorable renditions I've ever heard. I love the dramatic inflections in her voice! Plus, every song is made better when sung in the bath! Bravo!

Posted by: Jennifer at November 7, 2008 12:52 PM

Oh my gosh Y I love this, I could watch it over and ove again!

Posted by: Angel at November 7, 2008 7:10 PM

I hope you don't mind...I posted this video on my blog...I have watched it a couple of times and it just puts a smile on my face everytime.
When I was a girl, that song was a favorite of mine and when my little sister and I were sad, i would sing it to her and it would all be ok...
bless your daughter...she is a gem

    About Y
My name is Y, but you can call me "Jesse's girl." I am an Aerobic Dancer and have mastered many moves, but the one I am the most proud of is "The Monkey." I have three kids. ALL FROM THE SAME DAD (Because, did you know someone actually asked me that question?) A 16 year old son, a 12 year old son and a 4 year old daughter who was not planned but who is loved more than words could ever express. I am addicted to Starbucks, reality TV and to getting really good deals through coupons and "club member" savings (Please, respect The Costco Card.) I am extremely competive and if you don't believe me, just ask my husband about the time I sold him out to win a game of Taboo. If you're waiting for the part where I speak of my love for walks on the beach or slow dancing in the rain, you're going to be disappointed because my idea of a good time usually involves things like "burping contests" and "doing The Worm".
