I'm kind of stressing out about what I'm supposed to do with them when I'm running.

I love my new hair stylist. She's everything I've ever wanted in a stylist and more. She's honest about what she thinks will or will not look good with the shape of your face. She's an expert with color and gets it perfect every single time. And most importantly, she's hilarious, fun to talk to and has Big Ones.

Tonight, as I sat in the chair waiting while she mixed my color, she asked if I was upset.

"No, I'm just tired... Oh! Must be the PMS! Didn't know it was that obvious."

PMS has always been pretty bad for me, but the last few months it's become even worse. That is really bad news for everyone in my life. I'm irrational, over emotional, I get angry over stupid things. I cry a lot. I EAT MC RIBS IN MY CAR.

I tell you all of this because tonight I told her I wanted to do something totally different style wise.

"How do you think I'd look with bangs?"

She took a moment to look at my hair, at my face.

"I think they'd look really cute, but you should know I'll have to cut all the way from here."

I was all "I'm so nervous, but...do it!"

She asked how much I wanted off the length. I told her to cut it short. She suggested we only cut an inch off the length.

She thought the bangs would be such a drastic change, I may want to take it easy with the length. She said within a week, if I still wanted it short, to come back and she'd do it for free.

After she cut my bangs, I mentioned cutting my hair short again.

"I think it will look CUTE!" I said. (Was totally high from thrill of new bangs. BANGS!)

She leaned over to me and whispered. "I don't really want to cut it short, I think you're a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle hormonal right now and you may regret it later on."

Love her! She was absolutely right. I do think if she had done it, I would be laying on the floor crying right now saying things like "I LOOK LIKE A WEIRD BOY." ( Lena totally got that.)

I like the bangs, but they're taking some getting used to. I feel paranoid about the roundness (fullness? fatness? Oldness?) of my face. I love the idea of them and the way they're cut, I just have to get used to seeing them on my face.

I think.

Anyway. All this to say...

Bangs!

they look fab! Mine are like this as well and it took some getting used to.

I hate having hair in my face when I work out, so I scrape them backwards and pin them with a clip - not terribly attractive but it does the job.

I got bangs maybe a year and a half ago, and I think I finally got over the "adjusting" phase last week. Now I can't imagine my head without them.

It took me about a year-ish, maybe a bit more, before I decided that I could totally cut them myself. Sometimes I have to wear a hat.

Oh wow!! You look wonderful! The new style makes you look much younger (not that you needed it mind you!) and your eyes look gorgeous. Much respect to your hairdresser for sticking to her guns too :-)

Posted by: Phoenix at December 3, 2009 1:00 AM

you look really really adorable!! and that PMS stuff is a bitch!!

Posted by: heidi at December 3, 2009 2:56 AM

Gorgeous!!! I think they add a lovely dimension to your (already beautiful) face!!! I kind of think they make you look younger, too.... WTG!

Posted by: Damsel at December 3, 2009 3:31 AM

It is a big change. Isn't it amazing what a little thing like bangs can do to your appearance and your confidence? When I feel the need for change, I always start with the hair. Enjoy them. If they don't grow on you, at least they grow. ;)

Posted by: Nicki at December 3, 2009 3:47 AM

Y you look gorgeous! I love the bangs! I also love the length as is.

Posted by: Christina at December 3, 2009 4:24 AM

*gasp* ADORABLE! Oh my goodness, they look so great! I keep scrolling back up to the picture and going, "WOW!"
OK...I'm done gushing now.

Posted by: KarateMom at December 3, 2009 4:32 AM

I totally thought this post was going to be about boobs! Ha!

I think your bangs look fantastic!!! And I love that your hairdresser knows you enough to circumvent the short hair cut.

Posted by: Amy at December 3, 2009 4:40 AM

Love the bangs! You look fantastic!

Posted by: Jan at December 3, 2009 4:54 AM

Cute!! The answer to the running question is that you, of course, need some Bondi Bands. I love mine!

Posted by: Carrie at December 3, 2009 5:03 AM

Totally cute!!

Posted by: marcia at December 3, 2009 5:05 AM

You look absolutely BEAUTIFUL - more beautiful than usual.

Posted by: Kathy from NJ at December 3, 2009 5:15 AM

very cute!! Oh I think you look younger.

I think this is my 1st time posting here, usually just read. I too stress about my hair so I thought I would let you know CUTE BANGS!

Posted by: Robbin B at December 3, 2009 5:24 AM

Totally cute! And also, HOT.

Posted by: Angella at December 3, 2009 5:31 AM

Flipping adorable! Seriously. You rock the bangs in a way I never could.

Posted by: Aunt Becky at December 3, 2009 5:32 AM

Your bangs look wonderful. . Your hair is too pretty to be short. Whenever I get my bangs cut I have to wear them off to the side for a while until they grow a little longer because she cuts them too short.

Posted by: Jeanette at December 3, 2009 5:33 AM

Totally cute, you look great! :)

As for running, I would suggest either barettes pulled back to the side or a fabric headband pulling them back.

Also, must say, when I first read the title, I thought you were talking about your boobs! :) :)

Posted by: Jill at December 3, 2009 5:35 AM

You look adorable. I love it!!

Posted by: Jen at December 3, 2009 5:40 AM

Beautiful!!!

Posted by: Lori at December 3, 2009 5:44 AM

ohmigosh Y, they look awesome! Seriously, it's adorable. I'm glad you didn't cut it short, but sometimes getting a little change is just enough to give you a boost!

Now you've got me thinking about a change. I have bangs already, but my hair is long and ridiculous and I've been wearing a ponytail since about 2001. I think i've gone six months without a proper cut.

Now that I've put that out there, I'm feeling a little ashamed. Hold me.

But seriously--it's a great look for you!

Posted by: Carolyn at December 3, 2009 6:01 AM

OMG, super cute!

Posted by: Jaime at December 3, 2009 6:05 AM

You look awesome. Love the bangs. Glad your stylist didn't let you do anything too extreme - that's a smart lady right there.

Posted by: cindy w at December 3, 2009 6:10 AM

How cute! I love them!
And I have cut my OWN hair when hormonal. Seriously. Your hairdresser is very, very smart. PMS haircuts are never a good thing.

Posted by: Tamara at December 3, 2009 6:18 AM

LOVE the bangs! LOVE! You look fabulous.

Posted by: Jenn D. at December 3, 2009 6:23 AM

Okay, those look FABULOUS. They make your eyes look lovely. Obviously you were meant to have bangs all along.

Posted by: Alexa at December 3, 2009 6:27 AM

OMG! Super Cute. Don't go any shorter, your hair is perfect!

Posted by: Kathy at December 3, 2009 6:38 AM

Posted by: madge at December 3, 2009 6:46 AM

They look great! Your stylist sounds so completely wonderful.

Posted by: Operation Pink Herring at December 3, 2009 6:47 AM

CUTE!!!!

And yeah, good thing you didn't cut length. Never cut during hormonal times.

Posted by: WhichBox at December 3, 2009 6:48 AM

Well, I agree, I think they look super cute. And may every woman out there find a stylist that has her back. Keep her, lady! :)

Posted by: Kellee at December 3, 2009 6:49 AM

I think the new cut is absolutely adorable! And as for running? One of those stretchy headbands.

Posted by: Jenn at December 3, 2009 6:52 AM

Aw, they look great! But I'm glad you didn't cut the rest of your hair. You have gorgeous long hair!

Posted by: Liz at December 3, 2009 6:55 AM

I love it! I think it is very flattering. I want bangs, but I too am scared ;) You have inspired me!

Posted by: Erica at December 3, 2009 6:56 AM

The bangs and perfect and darling. And you are VERY lucky to have a stylist who gives you good advice and doesn't just do what you think will look good! Trust her.

Posted by: Jan Ross at December 3, 2009 7:01 AM

Very pretty! My daughter just gathers her bangs together and clips them back when she wants them out of her way.

Posted by: Denise at December 3, 2009 7:06 AM

You look fab!

Posted by: ambrosialove at December 3, 2009 7:10 AM

You look hot! And God bless understanding stylists who don't just do what you tell them to do. However, you realize what this might mean for your workout, right? HEADBAND. Yesssss.

Posted by: schoolofmom at December 3, 2009 7:21 AM

This made me come out of lurkdom. I LOVE, LOVE your bangs. I think they make your face look thinner. Cute, cute.

Posted by: Viki at December 3, 2009 7:41 AM

Wow! I think they look awesome. Just think, if you get a zit on your forehead you can now hide it. That's what I use mine for.

Posted by: Jessie P - B Town at December 3, 2009 7:43 AM

So cute! And just to let you know, I've had bangs my entire life and I've never had a problem with them when running. Just forget they're there and sort of let them...blow in the breeze. :)

Love it!

Posted by: DiaryofWhy at December 3, 2009 7:46 AM

I think the general consensus here is, ya look good gal!!

Posted by: Jules at December 3, 2009 7:48 AM

Totally CUTE and FLATTERING!

Your new look AND your hairstylist are winners!

Posted by: Mit at December 3, 2009 7:59 AM

LOVE the bangs! I cut mine similarly to yours a while back and have not looked back once. You'll get used to them. You look gorgeous!

I luff you with bangs! (Well I love you anyway, but still.) You look ADORABLE!

I found a YouTube video that taught me what to do with my bangs when I'm working out. Lemme find it for ya and I'll be back! xoxo

Posted by: Karen Sugarpants at December 3, 2009 8:11 AM

Okay here it is - the bobby pin trick about 0:48 seconds in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C27Ze8CijL4&NR=1
Then I ponytail the rest. Easy peasy. :)

Posted by: Karen Sugarpants at December 3, 2009 8:13 AM

The bangs look absolutely great on you! I think they make your face look less round.

Posted by: Cheryl at December 3, 2009 8:29 AM

Love the bangs! And for some reason I now have the song "She Bangs" by Ricky Martin running through my head.

Posted by: Mary at December 3, 2009 8:37 AM

Absolutely darling. Look at your pretty glossy hair - wow. You have the perfect hair for bangs! Nicely done! And as for exercising, just scrape them back with a bobby pin (or two). I hate my bangs flopping in my sweaty face while exercising so that" what I do.

Posted by: Beth B. at December 3, 2009 8:38 AM

You look absolutely gorgeous. I love the bangs.

I have bangs too, and they are NOT compatible with running. You have to either pin them back, or get some of those stretchy headbands that won't fall out while you are exercising. They have a rubbery texture on them and they are perfect for working out.

Posted by: Rebecca (Bearca) at December 3, 2009 8:47 AM

I just love it!

Posted by: Linda at December 3, 2009 8:49 AM

you look like a movie star!!!! for real! amazing!

They look great! And kind of like mine. :)

Posted by: Jenn at December 3, 2009 9:23 AM

HOT! Welcome to the blunt bang brigade.

And a barrette or I just *gulp* leave them down for running.

Posted by: Motherhood Uncensored at December 3, 2009 9:39 AM

You look awesome with the new bangs. :-)

As for how to keep them out of the way I am a big fan of the bobby pin. Mine are side swept but I think it'll work great for yours too.

Posted by: Cass at December 3, 2009 9:45 AM

Great bangs!! And yay for having an awesome stylist. I can't afford one so I usually end up in Great Clips where they don't even talk to you, they just hack your hair off and send you on your way (though, to be fair, sometimes that's all I want).

Posted by: Erin at December 3, 2009 9:48 AM

I think you look spectacular! And your hairdresser - What a find!

Posted by: maresi at December 3, 2009 10:02 AM

So cute! I did the same thing last week.

Posted by: Jen at December 3, 2009 10:14 AM

yay!! I did the same thing last year and I lOVED them. Problem is? They grow into your eyes too quick and you have to get them trimmed every 3 weeks. Maitenance was to hard for lazy me. :)

Posted by: Lyndsey at December 3, 2009 10:24 AM

LOVE!!!!!
