NOT 38!

Her: I’ll be 38 in September!
Me: Me too! What is your actual birthday?
Her: The 21’st.
Me: Mine is the 9th.
Her: So you were born in 70, eh?
Me: Um… actually…I was born in 71. *starts counting with my fingers* OH SHIT! I’M NOT 37! I’M ONLY 36! This entire year I’ve thought I was already 37!
And that is why this is going to be the best birthday since turning 30. Because I am a year younger than I thought I was and that’s kind of awesome when you’re approaching 40.
Since I post pictures of what my children look like on the morning of their birthdays, I thought it was only fair I post one of what I looked like when I woke up this morning. You’re not imagining things. I really am that hot (Puff-ay!) and I really do have dandruff.
What NOT 38! but 37! looks like.

    Happy Birthday!!!
And I’m NOT just saying this because we have to be nice to people on their birthdays… but I totally thought you were closer to 30 than 40. Like I would’ve guessed around 33ish. I guess that wouldnt make sense with the ages of your kids… but I never did the math (apparently, I am not a winner).

Well, happy birthday! How awesome that you have a whole ‘nother year before 40! Score!
And that early AM picture of you? Looks better than I look most days in mid-afternoon.

happy birthday!! i totally did the same thing this year, thought all year long that i was 46, but i’m only turning 46. does that rock or what?
    here’s to gaining a year!

Happy Birthday Y! That’s pretty cool, your B-day is 9/9, mine is 9/10 and my mom’s is 9/12. I’ll be joining you in celebration when I hit the big 3-0 tomorrow.

  5. Maria

Happy birthday, Y! I hope you have a wonderful birthday and year.
P.S. I work with a man who found out he was 7 years older than he thought he was.

HAHAHA. Mine is Sept 23, lol. I’ll only be 27, but I soooooo don’t want mine… *Ponders selling it on E-Bay* HAPPY SEPTEMBER BIRTHDAYS!!!

  7. Y

Just wanted to say thank you all for the birthday wishes. So nice to read.
Also, I really did think I was 37. I don’t know why. Somewhere during the year, I just forgot my age and would tell people I was 37. I blame my thyroid, of course.

    happy birthday!
i also have to really think when someone asks how old i am…or how old i was when i got married or how old i was when i had my children.

  9. Danielle

    Happy Birthday!
You can blame the forgetting on your thyroid all that you want. I do that all of the time. I was just at the doctor’s yesterday and they wanted to know my age and it took me a little while to figure it out. I didn’t help that my ears are all clogged and I thought she asked me what my H was? And I was all really confused. Luckily I can blame it on this cold. πŸ™‚

Happy birthday! Your hair looks better when you first wake up than mine does after being professionally styled.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
BTW- 38 isn’t that bad, even you do have to wait another year to get there. (I just hit it) However, I am dragging my feet and going kicking and screaming when 40 rolls around.

ohwow miss virgo, we *(jenijen, shannon, grace, etc)* are having a little birthday party for ourselves. (mine is 9/20) Slumber party. Wi-fi, gourmet food, no men and no kids.
    Want to come??????
But it’s at my place cause I’m oldest and bossiest. And my house is like a campground.

Hey — Happy Birthday! You could be my younger sister, and dang it, I have some (meaning lots) of white hair peeking through my dark hair that makes me look nice and older… ish. πŸ˜‰ Have a great day!

Virgos rule. Happy Birthday Yvonne- I hope your second 37th year is a wonderful, happy and healthy one. If I had some Wild Vines, I’d toast it to ya.

  15. Jesseeezmom

Happy Birthday!! Birthday morning pictures are the best you look fabulous! Your story was funny, I was able to trick my husband for almost a year that he was a year older than he was…until my Mom was talking about how old he was and told him you are not 42! You were born the same year as Erik (my brother). The jig was up! We still laugh about how I tricked him for all that time, ahh it’s the little things that keep a marriage alive! haha! He felt the same way you do like he got an extra year!
To SheilaG- I had our daughter thinking I was 25 until she was in 8th grade- one of her “friends” mom’s let that cat out of the bag!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Y!!! I hope you have a beautiful day with your family that you will treasure always in your memory.

  17. Ashley

30 freaking 8. GOOD LORD. You total bitch. We chatted today! I should’ve known. GAWD. Now I’ma have to call you early and harrass you so I can make up for it.

  18. Miss Hope

Makes learning how to count when you were young all worth it, huh? You know this gives you a great argument you can present to your kids about how staying in school is cool and it’ll keep them young.
Happy Birthday. A ’71 baby here, too. I hear we better enjoy it because we will start falling apart after 40.

  19. Suzanne

Happy Birthday!! I hope your family made your birthday really special. How awesome that you get an “extra” year of your thirties. I wish I could forget how old I am this year, lol.

  20. Tammy

From one Virgo to another ( I knew you were a virgo from your personality, lol) HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope your day rocked, just like you!! Hugs from Fort Worth!

  21. vertyeux

    Happy Birthday Y!
I did the same thing last year, thinking I was 37 when I was still 36. Weird.. since I see there are others in your comments that did the same thing, maybe it has something to do with the year…?
Oh, and you look great in that photo – I would never dare to take one of myself upon first waking up. You so do not look 37!

  22. Jessie

Y – You look great!!! Happy Birthday and how awesome is it that you are actually a year younger then you thought you were? I was born in 79 and have thought I was a different age then I really am, but I have thought I was younger! That SUCKS!

  23. Alison

Happy Birthday yesterday! That is my birthday too! I got a pedicure and went to see Mama Mia for the 3rd time. (the movie) It was great!

  24. Beverly

    Happy Birthday!
    And HA!
I had a co-worker once who did the same thing…and it was her 40th birthday! I had to “break” it to her that she was only turning 39. Imagine the party plans that went down the drain!

  25. mary

Younger people never believe me when I say you forget how old you are when you get in your 30s. They look at me skeptically like I’m making it up. And depending on what day you ask, I’ll say the boyfriend is 41, or 42 or 43. He’s 42. Doesn’t look his age though, and neither do you! Happy belated, Y!

  26. patois

You can’t have dandruff. Aren’t you the lady who doesn’t wash her hair (with shampoo)? Are is it some other fabulous lady blogger I’m thinking of?
Well, I am 47 — really, I was born in 1961 and my birthday was in August — so my brain cells could be totally fried. Happy happy happy to you.

  27. Stefanie

Congrats on finding another year! I think I will turn 42 every year from now on. It’s sort of criminal that I’m out of my thirties anyway. Happy Birthday!! Miss you!

  28. Erin

I’m 37 as well….Happy bday! You look awesome and remember your only as young as you feel. Although somedays i feel like i’m friggin 50 years old after coming home from a long day of work and kids! Ha Ha!
