Beautiful Baby Girl

beautiful mama
My brother had his first child last week.
A girl.
It’s hard to wrap my mind around the fact that my little brother is a dad. Not because I don’t think he’ll be a good Dad– I know he will be. It’s just… my little brother is a dad
I was in the waiting room of the hospital when she was born. My brother sent me a text that said “she looks like she’s going to have a sense of humor” with like, 30 exclamation points. I thought it was an odd thing to say and so I laughed about it.
Then, I saw her. And it I totally got it.
She had this sweet little face, but the look on it was like “You have NO IDEA what you’re in for with The Funny I’m going to bring to this family, guys.”
I instantly fell in love with her. (And quite possibly instantly ached for another one of my own. Why, babies, WHY do you do that to me?) I look forward to watching her grow and getting to know her. And you better believe I’m going to steal her as often as possible.
I can’t help but wonder about one thing… How long until SHE hates my camera?

I think the question is how long before Gabby steals the baby, puts make up on her and hides her under a pile of Webkinz until she can give her lessons in Drama Queen Bidness.

Congrats Auntie Y! I felt the same thing the first time my brother became a parent and now he is expecting his third child.

My son wrote a list this week, comparing himself now (as a 6 year old) to himself as a baby. Under now he wrote More Personality. I told him he’s had personality plus since the day he was born (same with his sis). I love how they’re so *themselves* from the very first second.
Congrats to your brother and his family, and post as many pictures as they will let you, okay? I live for the baby pix.

Congratulations, Aunty Y! I still want another baby when I see a sweet picture like that. I tend to forget that I had a hysterectomy six years ago, which makes another pregnancy for me fairly unlikely! I remember when my little brother became a Dad. It’s kind of weird when your kid brother, whom you remember playing with trucks and trains and making mud pies in the sandbox, actually grows up and has sex and makes babies.

I’m sure she’ll have good taste and NEVER hate your camera. You’ll take flattering shots that she’ll pull out to show suitors later on in life. All, “See? Look how cute I was?”

I know what you mean. Of course, wanting a baby won’t bring one about. The Mr. has been fixed and I’m…uh…past that point anyway. But thinking about it IS intoxicating.

    Congrats!
Nat hates, HATES the camera! As soon as I pull it out she starts screaming, so much for getting that “first smile” on camera…bah!
About that “baby ache?” Ya, I had it too..and had another one…Sleep is no longer in my future for at least 10 years..lol

Congratulations on assuming the role of Aunt for the first time! She is beautiful!
I still cannot wrap my head around the fact my little brother is dad and he began procreating nine years before me and has a twelve year old.
Hey, I wanted to let you know that I proclaimed you a fabulous blogger on my lil’ blog. I hope you play along! 🙂

  12. Mommy of 2

Congrats to your brother on his new addition! I too had a new addition to my family this past weekend. She is a beautiful baby girl and is now just over a week old and joins a big brother who’s thoroughly enjoying being a terrible and not so terrible 2 🙂

Congrats on becoming an aunt! I personally LOVE it! I feel like it’s kind of like being a grandparent — I get to play, spoil her, and then head on out! The only weird thing is that it does make me feel old. I agree with you — how can my little sis be a parent? But it’s also SO cool and amazing to see her in this role. I only wish I could see them more often.

Auntie Y! Congrats to you and your brother and his wife and well, everyone who’s life she will undoubtedly touch.
Babies do that to me too, the ache thing. God does that to us to make sure the race goes on. I ache and long until they puke on me or I feel that little vibrate ‘o the pamper which can only mean one thing. A thing I’d rather not have to deal with again. You know for like, 7 more years or until they can thankfully and finally wipe their own asses. And then I remind myself of the bags under my eyes and of crap to haul around. The feeling eventually passes and then I have another glass of wine. You have the best gig with her: love on her, eat her face, nuzzle her fuzzy little head and then just give her back!!
